Welcome to the First-Generation Student Success website! The term first-generation refers to students who are the first in their families to attend college. More specifically, it means that a student’s parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree. Students who have siblings in college but whose parents did not earn a bachelor’s degree are considered first-generation. Our office is here to provide UF first-generation students with opportunities and resources to navigate towards a successful college experience. Please feel free to look around our site to learn more about the different opportunities you can get involved with.
The various programs offered by the Office of First-Generation Student Success aim to increase the success of all first-generation students at UF.
Specifically, we help students:
- Develop college success strategies
- Build academic and professional confidence
- Understand their first-generation identity
- Connect to peer and professional mentors
- Access campus resources
Meet with us today! Our office is located in 2015 J.W. Reitz Union.
