Pre-vet Volunteering Experience

On January 31st, 2018, I ventured out to Crystal River with the UF Wildlife Society and USGS organization. We served as manatee health check volunteers. We assisted a team of biologists, veterinarians, veterinary school students, and manatee-experts, prepare blood and urine samples for analysis, take measurements of body size, and help carry the manatees to the scale. I personally helped with oxygen administration, CO2 monitoring, and urine and feces collection. Overall, this was an amazing experience and I am very grateful and thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of this effort to ensure the health and prosperity of this majestic species.
