As an advocate, you can be instrumental in providing the support first-generation students need to succeed in college and you are pledging to make yourself available for first-generation student who may reach out to you. Our advocates are excellent resources for students to discuss school, plans for life after college, and possible careers in your field.
You already know the answers because of your experience in college and at UF. In fact, you probably have a wide network of colleagues that you could connect first-generation students to. Because as you know, first-generation students are first in their families to graduate so your guidance in post-college planning is so important!
